Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is a specialized form of counselling designed for both partners to be present and engaged in the process. This experiential therapy fosters an environment of understanding and compassion, helping both individuals gain deeper insights into their relationship dynamics.

Understanding Relationship Patterns

In our relationships, we often bring patterns and templates learned from childhood experiences. These early influences shape our attachment styles, which we then carry into our interactions with others. Through the counselling process, we work to uncover and understand the attachment styles, triggers and past experiences that influence our behaviours and responses in our relationships.

The Therapeutic Approach

Relationships can be a source of profound joy, but they can also bring significant challenges, emotional pain, and disconnection.

In couples therapy, the relationship itself becomes the client, where both partners will be encouraged to develop strategies to build a secure, loving relationship where they can feel safe and resolve conflicts with understanding and care. Claudia’s approach emphasizes the development of effective communication and conflict resolution skills, aiming to create a strong foundation for a healthy and secure relationship.  Alternatively Claudia can help if the couple is contemplating separation.

It is important to note that Claudia does not work with couples who have experienced domestic violence or ongoing violent behaviour toward each other.

Claudia is comfortable working with culturally and sexually diverse couple across a wide range of issues.
